In 2011, Ryan Brennell took a trip to Samoa that would forever change his life. It had been 2 years since a tsunami devastated Samoa, and while Ryan was there, the small country faced the threat of another storm. It never reached tsunami levels but it did make a mess of things. As Samoa residents – including the hotel staff where Ryan was staying – began cleaning up from the storm, Ryan stepped in to do odd jobs around the hotel and volunteered throughout the remainder of his stay.
